Story Project 2

The Story Project brought us through the necessary steps to develop a story all the way to the animation phase. We designed our ideas with log lines and developed further with character sheets. After, we created beat boards to help refine the idea and highlight the turning points for vital information. We than ran through the script and created the proper environment and set-up the scenes, shots, and sound effects. We used the feedback to improve our ideas and finally used the storyboard to create the animatic.

Two armies, the Narwhals and the Polar Bears, are at war. They engage in a battle, during which the Polar Bears take the King Narwhal captive. His son, Prince Narwhal sees him get dragged away as he helplessly tries to save him. The Narwhal army is forced to retreat and regain their strength. Prince Narwhal is determined to save his father, so he stays up all night concocting a plan to rescue his father. He studies a map of the Polar Bear Kingdom and locates the throne room. Prince Narwhal sneaks away bringing his secret weapon along with him. Prince Narwhal sneaks under the polar bear ice castle and bursts into the throne room causing confusion throughout. The guards surround Narwhal and try to arrest him but the King Bear tells them to depart for he wants to hear what the brave Narwhal has to say. Prince Narwhal then hands him a ICE COLD KNAR-COLA and the war has ended and the world is returned to peace.

Animatic:

Problems:
Background music did not change with the mood of the story. We fixed this before the final submission by changing the music at the end once the Knar-Cola is introduced.
We were missing some frames that would help the viewer understand the story better, but added them in before the final submission.

Storyboard:

Problems:
We had extra unnecessary frames that did not progress the story at all, so we ended up finding a way to add things to them for the final animatic that ended up being a great addition to the project.
Knar Cola was too pixelated and needed refinement which was an easy fix.
BeatBoard:

Problems:
The biggest struggle with the beat board was determining which scenes were the most important and then being able to convey those scenes and actions with only one sketch.

Script:

Problems:
Our story was very complex so it was difficult to type out the actions of everything we wanted to include and have the story still be under a minute. So we ended up shortening the story and taking out some parts we wanted to elaborate on originally so that we could fit under the time limit.

Logline:

Problems:
How to refine such a large idea into such a short and conscience sentence. After many attempts we finally nailed it down in an understandable way.
